New and Changed in OpenUtilities Substation 2023 Update 1

The following items summarize the new features and enhancements in the OpenUtilities Substation 2023 Update 1 release:

  • New BOM Manager Function: Import Custom Parts

    Custom Parts features allow you to add items to your Bills of Materials without having to create a separate parts database record. This new function enables bulk import of custom parts from an excel file.

  • New Import Drawings Function: Import Page Properties

    Bulk import title block properties from an excel file during import.

    Column A Required. .DGN file name. This is used during the import process to create a relationship between records in Import Drawings Dialog and the excel file.

  • Multiple URL Link Support

    The Parts database URL field was limited to a single URL in prior releases. Starting with this release, users can associate multiple URL links.

  • New BOM Manager Function: Link With Symbol

    This new function is found on the Right-Click menu in BOM Manager. You can use this function to quickly link an unplaced BOM item to a symbol.

  • New BOM Manager Function: Apply to Symbol

    This new function is found on the main BOM Manager tool bar. Use this function to assign multiple parts to a selected set of symbols. This can be useful when assigning multiple hardware items such as nuts, bolts, and washers to terminal connectors.

  • New Remove Part Numbers Function

    This new function is found in the Modify Component > Device ribbon group.

    Note: This function requires one or more symbols to be selected prior to locating it in the device ribbon menu. Use this function to remove multiple part numbers from multiple symbols at once.

  • Master Units Warning

    If you attempt to change working units on an existing page associated to any mode, except 3D Layout Mode and Construction Mode, a Unit Warning is displayed when: Master Unit in Design File does not equal selected unit in Default Units of Measure setting in Settings.

    • Yes – Apply user change.
    • No – Do not apply user change.
  • New Administrator Function: Maintenance Mode

    A Project Database can be put into a state preventing users from using the application during a database maintenance event, such as, Updating a Project Database to the latest version. Maintenance mode is controlled by setting a value for the Maintenance extended property associated to dbo.Project table.  

    Use Microsoft SQL Management Studio as follows:
    • Enable: set value for Maintenance extended property 1.
    • Disable: set value for Maintenance extended property 0.

    Users will receive below Alert message if they attempt to use the software while this option is enabled:
